Prepare for Change: Spring Clean Your Closet…First!

“We can never know how much of a burden our possessions have become until we begin to remove them.” – Joshua Becker Should it go or should it stay? Each season I’ve approached my closet with a mindset of reorganizing everything to make way for shifting clothes from one space to another. It’s the kind of task that is energizing in anticipation of warmer weather and fewer layers to consider. There’s a beginning, middle and end if I can remain focused and unattached to the garme

    Late Again?

Are you the person skidding into the reception area, out of breath and perhaps red-faced? Did you make it or are you already into your well practiced apology mode, offering lame excuses for your lateness? What’s the payoff and how can you shift your thinking and change your behavior to accommodate a less “thrilling” way to operate? According to a San Francisco State University study, 20% of the US population is chronically late. Lead researcher, Diana DeLonzor notes that it’s

    Summer Vacation or Preparation?

    1. Learn a new skill: How curious are you? If you live near any body of water, you may have noticed that people tend to congregate nearby for leisure activities like boating, paddle boarding, and more. You don’t even have to don a bathing suit or get wet to participate. Sailing lessons are often over-subscribed and if you’re not interested in being the person at the helm, a crew is frequently needed to take out a boat on the water. 2. Enroll in a course: Check out university

    Finding the “25th” Hour

Time evaporates even for the most organized among us and finding the “25th hour” is the Holy Grail for many. There just doesn’t seem to be enough of it and if you ask anyone how they are, the standard reply underscores just how busy they are. And after all, who has time to stop and analyze actually how we spend the gift of 168 hours weekly. Reality check; the time really is there but scheduling takes discipline. Tracking activities is an eye opener and may be the best and eas

    What’s in Your Junk Drawer?

Now, this woman is a professional, always well groomed and every surface in her office is immaculate, so how could she be so uncharacteristically messy? In my rush to judgment, based on experiencing one tiny piece of her world, I started to think about what my junk drawer looked like and whether it was even a single space or a place. No doubt, professional organizers have stories to tell. People may be highly structured in their workplace and not so elsewhere. We’ve all seen

    A Peek in Your Wallet

Glancing around the room I couldn’t help but notice the discomfort level rising. This was not intended to be a public shaming, rather an opportunity to see how we often make our wallets the unintended home for everything. For some it’s morphed into a catch-all and a traveling junk drawer that wastes time when looking for something, and isn’t a true representation of the professional woman you want to present to the world. Was my wallet unique in its size or color or contents?
