Avoid being automated by AI

AIÂ is already here. As a concept, AI has been around since the mid-20th century, and officially coined the term in 1956 at the Dartmouth Conference. So, while AIÂ has been around for nearly 70 years, most of us have been interacting with it most widely in the last decade.

Your job search or retaining your present position will require knowledge of AI. While you may not need to be proficient, there is a strong expectation that you are open to learning and upskilling. Think of it as part of your career insurance by making yourself more valuable.
Â
·       Bridge Communication Gaps: Act as the translator between technical and non-technical terms. AI still struggles with nuance, humor, and reading the emotional temperature of the room.
·       Combine Skills in Unique and Strategic Ways: Be a generalist with spikes; someone who blends multiple competencies across fields, forming a professional fingerprint that’s hard to copy.
·       Make Yourself Unpredictable: Routine and predictability are automation blueprints. Add variability to your tasks. Experiment. Read a variety of books. Be curious. Add cross-disciplines and complexity that AI can’t handle.
·       Stay Curious and Adaptable: Treat this era not as a tech shift but a revolution, a cognitive revolution. Your ability to unlearn and relearn will be more important than any static skill set that you can showcase.
