Feeling stuck or uncertain in your job? Daydreaming about quitting? You are in good company. Whether it’s just Sunday night nerves or an overall feeling that you need a change, pausing to explore what’s really going on is a first step. Whether you choose to stay or go, let’s examine further.
It might be time to leave if…
· You feel drained or disengaged
· You’ve hit a wall with no room for growth or learning
· You’re underpaid or undervalued
· The job no longer aligns with your values or long-term goals
· It’s a toxic culture
You might want to stay if…
· There are upcoming opportunities for a promotion, project, or skill-building
· You still enjoy the work, team, or mission
· You’re gaining valuable experience
· You have a supportive mentor or team
· You feel challenged
Ask yourself:
· What needs to change for me to stay?
· Am I growing or surviving?
· Running from or to something else?
Take your next steps with intention. If 70% of the job energizes you, it might be worth staying for now. Likewise, if 70% drains you, it may be the best time to explore other opportunities.
Don’t let short-term comfort trap you in long-term stagnation. Compare staying vs. leaving with respect to personal, financial, and professional outcomes. It’s your career, own it!
